Changing jobs is a daunting experience. To make the process less stressful, here at Universal Air feel candidates should know what to expect for the role they are applying for. Therefore, please find the journey from searching for a role to onboarding for each specific role below.
Aviation has an excellent safety record and to ensure this continues, Universal Air are required by regulation to carry out pre-employment checks, regardless of which career you are applying for.
We appreciate and respect applicants time when job searching and the effort it takes to apply for a role, we will endeavour to let you know if you have been successful or not.
Pilot journey to onboarding
Application
The application process starts with the application form on the Universal Air careers website. You will be required to enter your personal details and answer some questions to show your motivation for joining Universal Air
Competency Interview
Online teams Competency based interview with members of the recruitment team. The questions will be based on the Universal Air Pilot Competency list and the answers should be formulated using the S.T.A.R format.
Assessment Day
The assessment day will be based in Malta and will include a group exercise and a simulator assessment on a medium jet FNPT II simulator.
Offer
Once you have successfully completed the assessment process and you are placed on a course. A formal offer will be sent.

Pre-employment checks require a five-year employment and Criminal record checks
Welcome on board
You will be met by the recruitment and training team to start your Operational Conversion Course.

Interview
Online teams interview for international applications, and in person for local people, with members of the recruitment team.
Job Offer
Once you have successfully completed the interview process. A formal offer will be sent, subject to acceptance, we will then send you a contract.

Welcome on board
You will start your journey with 2-4 weeks of formal training depending on your position.

Application
The application process starts with a job advert on our Linked-In page, which will take you to our Universal Air careers page, you will be required to enter your personal details and answer some questions to demonstrate your motivation for joining Universal Air.
Interview Stage
After an internal selection process, we will invite you for an online or in-person interview at our Head office in Malta, depending on your location. This interview is usually held with the Hiring Manager, and another representative from Universal Air, as well as HR on occasion. We will ask you questions to determine your level of competence, character fit, motivation for joining our team, and areas that will require further training. Have your CV updated and ready!
Job Offer
Once all interviews are completed, we choose the candidate who we think best fits our profile, and make an Offer, highlighting all the benefits you will enjoy as an employee of Universal Air. If the Offer is accepted, we then send out a draft Employment Contract so you can review all the terms and conditions of your employment, and ask us any questions that may come to mind. Keep an eye on your Email Inbox, and don’t forget to check your Junk/Spam folder, just in case!

Pre-employment checks will be carried out and a police conduct certificate requested.
Welcome on board
Once the Employment Contract is signed by both parties, we will enroll you on our HR software, Talexio, and you will receive a log-in to create a profile. On Talexio, you will find an On-Boarding Checklist, with the required documents to include you in our payroll system. Once you’ve completed and signed all the documents, all you need to do is upload them all on Talexio, and we’ll take a care of the rest. One week before your start date, look out for our Welcome Email, explaining what to expect on our first day!
