Job Description

We are currently looking for a Safety & Compliance Officer to join our team.  Based in Malta, the Safety and Compliance team ensure the development, implementation and continuous improvement of an efficient Safety Management System (SMS) and are responsible for liaising with the National Aviation Authorities for regulatory compliance matters at Universal Air.

Reporting to the Safety & Compliance Manager, the chosen candidate will be responsible for the following tasks & duties:

  • Assisting the Safety & Compliance Manager in the day to day running of the Company’s SMS, and all Safety and Compliance Monitoring functions, in line with all the applicable regulations.
  • Identifying key hazards, risks and other associated operational matters, and reporting these accordingly.
  • Promote the Company’s SMS, and support the Safety & Compliance Manager in ensuring that the compliance monitoring programme is properly implemented and maintained.
  • Under the guidance of the Safety & Compliance Manager, undertake audits and inspections in accordance with the approved audit plan, as well as risk assessments where required.
  • Support the Safety & Compliance Manager during Authority audits and any other external audits carried out on Universal Air.
  • ensure that all compliance monitoring department audits and inspections are documented on Centrik, together with ensuring the effective monitoring of finding due dates and follow-ups.
  • Carry out trend analysis on data collected from safety and compliance related functions including safety occurrence reporting, Flight Data Monitoring and Fatigue Monitoring.
  • Conduct internal training related to Safety and Compliance as may be required.
  • Performs any other task related to the position as delegated by the Safety & Compliance Manager.

Ideal candidate profile:

  • 2 years of work experience within the aviation industry.
  • Proficient understanding of EASA regulations (Air Ops, SMS regulations, Part 145, Part M/CAMO).
  • Appropriate experience and knowledge in Safety Management Systems.
  • Experience in auditing techniques will be considered an asset.
  • A technical or engineering degree is preferred, however, related experience will also be considered.
  • Proficiency in Information Technology and Web based systems and Windows.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken.
