Job Description

Universal Air, an aviation company based in Malta, is seeking a part-time Head of HR to lead and manage our people strategy. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR professional who is looking for a flexible role, someone with a strong character, empathy, and sound judgment, combined with a solid understanding of HR practices in highly regulated industries. Experience in aviation or a related sector will be considered an asset. Familiarity with Talexio HR software is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Align HR strategy with the Company’s business goals, including workforce planning, talent acquisition, and succession planning.
  • Develop and implement HR policies, ensuring compliance with Maltese employment law and industry standards.
  • Act as a trusted partner to management and employees, addressing concerns and fostering a positive work culture.
  • Support employee engagement, motivation, and retention through initiatives and recognition programs.
  • Lead change management initiatives and coach managers on people leadership.
  • Oversee all day-to-day HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, employee records, contracts, payroll, time & attendance, work permits, and offboarding.
  • Manage employee relations, performance management, and disciplinary procedures in line with legislation.
  • Administer compensation and benefits programs.
  • Identify training needs and oversee employee development initiatives.
  • Ensure accurate HR data management and reporting through Talexio.
  • Prepare HR and Office Management budgets and oversee office management matters in coordination with SkyParks.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies.

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience in an HR leadership role, ideally within aviation or another highly regulated industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Maltese employment law and HR best practice.
  • Ability to work independently, with discretion and professionalism.
  • Compassionate and approachable, with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Experience using HR systems, preferably Talexio.
  • Holds a qualification in Human Resources, psychology and/or employment law.
