Job Description

Universal Air is a scheduled airline serving the Mediterranean and beyond with our modern, fast and fuel-efficient Dash 8-400 turboprop aircraft. We are building a culture of success, sustainability and safety throughout our organisation.

We are currently looking to employ a full time Sales Manager to manage our Charter Sales business and also sales to Travel Agents and Tour Operators. It is based at either our headquarters in Malta, or a remote EU location. Reporting to the Head of Commercial Strategy & Sales, the candidate will be responsible to grow our revenue and reputation in the assigned sectors.  A willingness to travel is a must for this position.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Generate charter sales on Universal Air’s own fleet of Dash 8 Q-400 aircraft.

  • Generate aircraft wet and dry lease opportunities, as well as block hour opportunities on Company aircraft.
  • Developing and implementing sales strategies, and work on achieving monthly team and/or individual targets set by the Company within any period.
  • Develop and manage relationships with Tour Operators and Travel Agents for all related requests including FITs, groups, series and charter contracts.
  • Managed all leads/prospects, sales and opportunities within company CRM, including price negotiations.

Manage confirmed charter flights as required by providing outstanding customer service to clients with confirmed bookings.

  • Manage assigned accounts by means of customer service and repeat business.
  • Liaise with other departments when required, including Operational Control Centre, CAMO, Flight Operations, Finance and top Management.
  • Call / visit customers regularly to develop and maintain relationships, monitoring client feedback and maintaining communication records.
  • Identify new business leads and complete business development calls to generate leads on a weekly basis.
  • Assist and work on sales and business development related projects that may be assigned together with the Commercial department.
  • Support other sales functions by transferring any relevant opportunities, cross-selling and up-selling Company products and services.
  • Maintain an updated client data base on the company servers or any other data collection tools used and implemented by the Company.

Maintaining accurate records of sales activities, quotes, and bookings, and generating reports on sales performance and market trends.

  • Understand and ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations, and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business.
  • Maintain professional relations with clients and co-workers.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as required.

 

Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

  • Experience in aviation charter sales would be of preference but not essential.  Experience in a sales role will be an asset.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English is essential, preferably with a knowledge of other languages such as French and/or Arabic
  • A passion for dealing with customer of all nationalities and backgrounds, an ability to pivot quickly on changes and the ability to take pride in one’s own work
  • A hunger for sales and passionate about maintaining outstanding levels of customer satisfaction; attentiveness and meticulousness
  • An entrepreneurial mind-set with the ability to think on your feet.
