Reports to: Head of Training for training and standards with a functional reporting line to the Cabin Operations Manager
Role Type: Specialist lead – full-time; combined instructional and operating post

Role Purpose
The Cabin Crew Training Lead is responsible for the design, delivery and standardisation of cabin crew training and checking, so that every cabin crew member is trained to the required standard, correctly assessed and demonstrably current. The role acts as deputy to the Cabin Operations Manager and is the day-to-day owner of cabin crew training standards
Organisational
- Reports to the Head of Training for training and standardization and the Cabin Operations Manager for Cabin Crew duties and deputises for that post during planned and unplanned absence
- Reporting to the Head of Training for training programme content, approval and standards.
- Functional leadership of the cabin crew instructor roles
- Key internal relationships: Cabin Operations Manager, Head of Training, Deputy Head of Training, Flight Operations Manager, Pilot Manager, Flight Operations Administration, Crew Planning, Safety and Compliance, People and Culture.
- Key external relationships: training organisations and venues, safety equipment and training device providers, and the competent authority for training-related submissions.
- Support with budgetary requirements: cabin crew training delivery costs within the departmental budget
- Decision-making authority: assesses and determines individual training outcomes within the approved standard; may withhold a crew member from line duty pending further training; recommends instructor appointments; cannot amend an approved training programme without committee approval.
Key Responsibilities
Training Delivery
- Plan and deliver cabin crew initial, conversion, differences, familiarisation, recurrent and refresher training in accordance with EASA Regulations
- Deliver safety and emergency procedures training, including practical drills on training devices and aircraft.
- Conduct checking and competence assessment against the approved standard.
- Manage the training schedule so that recurrent training is completed within validity and does not create crew unavailability.
Programme Content and Currency
- Maintain cabin crew training programmes, course material and assessment instruments, and submit changes to the committee for approval.
- Maintain the cabin crew training content of the Operations Manual and support the amendment process.
- Update content in response to occurrence data, audit findings, fleet or configuration changes and crew feedback.
- Support the introduction of new aircraft types, cabin configurations and safety equipment through timely differences training.
Instructor Cadre and Standardisation
- Recruit, develop and standardise the cabin crew instructor and examiner cadre, in conjunction with the Head of Training.
- Run standardisation activity so that the same standard is applied by every instructor and assessor.
- Maintain instructor and examiner qualification, currency and authorisation records.
- Allocate instructor resource against the training plan.
Records, Attestations and Compliance
- Ensure cabin crew training and checking records are complete, accurate, retrievable and retained for the required period.
- Support the issue, renewal and validity tracking of cabin crew attestations under EASA Regulation.
- Support internal and external audits of cabin crew training and own the resulting corrective actions.
- Handle crew training data in accordance with GDPR and Data Protection policies.
Standards and Continuous Improvement
- Monitor training outcomes and grading consistency, and act on systemic weaknesses rather than treating each shortfall individually.
- Manage additional and remedial training so that it is proportionate, documented and consistently applied.
- Maintain the feedback loop between line standards observations, occurrence reports and training content.
Deputy Duties
- Deputise for the Cabin Operations Manager during absence, within the written delegation given for that period.
- Represent the cabin crew function at operational, safety and compliance meetings when the Cabin Operations Manager is unavailable.
Operating Duties
- Maintain personal operating currency and operate as a cabin crew member on the line.
- Set the operating standard through personal example on the line.
Qualifications, Experience and Attributes
Regulatory Prerequisites
- Valid cabin crew attestation issued under EASA Regulation.
- Current aircraft type qualification, recurrent training and checking under EASA Regulation
- Valid cabin crew medical fitness assessment as required by Part-CC.
- Meets the instructor and examiner competence requirements set out in Part-ORO Subpart CC and in the operator’s approved training programme
- Right to work in Malta – sponsorship available for suitable third-country nationals
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Substantial operational cabin crew experience with a commercial air transport operator, including senior cabin crew experience.
- Demonstrable cabin crew instructional experience, including safety and emergency procedures training.
- Working knowledge of Part-ORO Subpart CC training and checking requirements.
- Experience of maintaining training records and evidencing currency.
- Clear written and spoken English, sufficient to author course material.
Desirable
- Cabin crew training and checking experience.
- Embraer 190 or CRJ900 experience.
- Experience of leading or standardising a group of instructors.
- Experience of a new aircraft type or cabin configuration introduction.
- Formal qualification in training, adult education, human factors or aviation safety.
- Maltese language ability.

Working Conditions and Requirements
- Malta-based, combining training centre and office duties with rostered operating duties.
- Training delivery routinely includes early starts, evenings, weekends and public holidays to fit around the roster.
- Practical training involves physical activity, including drills on training devices, evacuation slides, door operation and fire-fighting equipment
- Where operating duties are held, duty is subject to the operator’s approved flight time limitation scheme and to the working time regime for mobile staff in civil aviation derived from Directive 2000/79/EC.
- Travel to training venues and to industry meetings is required.
- Airport identification card and the associated background check are required.
- General duty of care obligations apply under the Occupational Health and Safety Authority Actand its subsidiary legislation.
